Artist Biography
Cynthia Dobie, a professional exhibiting artist, educator and theatrical scenic artist previously lived and
worked in New York City. Dobie received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts. She went on to earn a
second degree in teaching art at Southern Connecticut State University and a Masters in “Thinking and
Learning” from the Graduate Institute. Currently Dobie teaches art in the Milford Public School System
and draws inspiration for her art from her hiking environments here and abroad.

Dobie’s work has been shown in exhibitions in the United States that include The Torpedo
Factory in Virginia; Pleiades Gallery, New York; The Hilles Gallery and Gallery 195 in New
Haven; The Gage Family Art Gallery, Minneapolis, MN. and at the Abrons Art Center in New
York City where she was an Artist in Residence.
Her work is in several private collections as well as public ones including the Neuberger Berman
Collection, The Washington State Council of the Arts and the Women’s Museum in Washington DC.
Selective commissioned artwork includes the Metropolitan Transit Authority, Jewish Museum and
Children’s Museum in New York City, Hofstra University and the Glimmerglass Opera House in
Cooperstown, New York
